Kid Kindness Program: What Every Child Needs

I write these words as you will see to impress upon your heart
The world out there is really hard and tears some kids apart
They hear some things & see some things & have things done to them
And when these things are acted out we look at them chagrinned

There are some folks that understand when innocence is lost
All will hurt in retrospect unless we face the cost
Most others turn and look away caught up in other things
They give to sports & arts & founts with all they have to bring

All of those are good things too, we all would recognize
It’s just a matter of the stuff that we prioritize
Each child is worth a thousand of what other things abound
You have to wonder when put first if our world would turn around

One thing I know as I look at you, you looking back at me
You help them in so many ways as you make this ardent plea
To touch a child in their heart and teach them to be kind
Grows innocence in all of us and keeps it in our mind
