The Child Protection Center Welcomes New Board Members and Next Chair- The 40th Year for The CPC Also Marks New Leadership
The Child Protection Center, Inc. (CPC) has welcomed two new board members; Jim Rollo, and John Noyes, and has also announced the appointment of new Board Chair Tony Dempsey. Dempsey’s predecessor Karen Valentino will remain an active member of the board and will continue to serve on the advancement committee.
Karen Valentino says of her time served, “It has been an honor and a privilege to serve on The CPC’s board of directors. My time as board chair has been a time of personal challenge and growth, and the most rewarding experience, for which I am most grateful.”
The CPC’s Executive Director Douglas Staley says of Valentino, “The CPC has been blessed with the vision and leadership of CPC Board Chair Karen Valentino for the past two years. She has shared her heart and passion with our community and continues to be one of our greatest Ambassadors for children! We are thrilled that she will be focusing her talents on CPC’s Advancement Committee moving forward.”
Douglas also expressed excitement for the leadership under newly confirmed Chair Tony Dempsey, “Tony Dempsey brings his business acuity, Board Training, and desire to make a difference to his new term as CPC’s Board Chair. As a long time CPC Volunteer, Tony has seen first-hand the impact of The CPC’s services and will strive to make The CPC better.”
Tony echoed the excitement stating, “I feel very privileged becoming the Chair of the Board for The CPC for the 2019-2020 fiscal year. As July marked the 40th year of service for The CPC, I have reflected back over the years on the many accomplishments of our talented staff, the board members past and present, and the multitude of donors that have supported our mission.”
In addition to the leadership changes, two new board members were confirmed in August for the organization. “The CPC is excited to have Jim & John join our Board of Directors. They have unique experiences, and skills that complement our current Board members and will help to advance CPC’s mission and vision,” says Staley.
Jim Noyes is a retired financial executive and consultant who worked in the electric utility field for more than 35 years. He is a graduate of the University of Connecticut and a CPA. Upon retirement, he and his wife Norma moved to Venice, Florida from Connecticut in 2016.
James Rollo is a consultant, facilitator and author with over 30 years of experience. A Board Source certified board governance consultant, Rollo specializes in working with nonprofit boards on strategic planning, board composition, board structure and staff leadership development.
Although enormous strides have been made recently in the fight against child abuse, the new board and leadership have a lot of work ahead. “The CPC is making a difference, but we have much more work ahead in the coming years. I am ecstatic about the many new initiatives we are launching this year which will allow us to continue the many programs in support of the prevention, intervention, and treatment of child abuse,” says Tony.
