The Child Protection Team (CPT) is a medically directed multidisciplinary program based on the idea that child abuse and neglect cases involve complex issues and require the expertise of many professionals, in collaboration, to protect children. Florida Statute 39.303 mandates the existence of CPTs to provide assistance and consultation to the Department of Children and Families and law enforcement in cases of suspected abuse and neglect. This program provides expertise in evaluating allegations of abuse and neglect, assessing risk factors, and providing recommendations for interventions to protect children.
CPT provides expertise in evaluating allegations of abuse and neglect, assessing risk factors, and providing recommendations for interventions to protect children. After an abuse report has been made to the Florida Abuse Hotline, children are often referred to the Child Protection Team at CPC. This medically-driven team provides services such as forensic medical assessments & interviews, as well as community service referrals. The Team at CPC will talk with the children involved in each case to find out exactly what happened, and then provide thorough documentation through photos, videos and reports. This documentation may be used in criminal or dependency proceedings.
The Child Protection Team is
